Domestic Violence Warning Signs

Jealous of your time with co-workers, friends, & family
Controls your comings and goings and your money and insists on "helping" you make personal decisions Expects you to be the perfect person and to meet every goal they may have
Isolates you from other people and the use of a phone or car, limits your activites
Blames you or others for problems such as unemployment. Everything is "your fault"
Forceful behavior during sex, expects you to serve, submit, and obey. May demand sex
Upset with life's daily activites such as chores or working, may argue about child care
Unpredictable behavior: one minute loving, then suddenly angry
Threatens to "kill you" or "hit you" or hurt you physically
Cruelty to animals or children, insensitive to their pain, may tease and/or hurt children and pets
Denies or minimizes the abuse
Verbally degrades and humiliates. Wakes you up or keeps you awake to insult you
Physically harms you in any way. Holds you down during arguements. This can easily escalate to choking, stabbing, or shooting
